Dr. Matthew K. Robison

Dr. Matthew K. Robison joined the Georgia Safe Schools Collation in spring 2012. He has a passion for working with LGBT high school and college students and is committed to ensuring that LGBT students throughout the state of Georgia have safe and successful educational experiences. Matthew currently serves as Assistant Dean of Students at Georgia State University. In his role as Assistant Dean, Matthew oversees the areas of New Student Orientation, Parent Relations, Intercultural Relations, and serves in various other capacities within the Office of the Dean of Students. In addition, he chairs the campus Safe Zone program and advises the Alliance for Sexual and Gender Diversity. Matthew holds an Associate’s degree from Itawamba Community College, a Bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University, a Master’s degree from New York University, and received his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Georgia State University. As a critical qualitative scholar, Matthew is guided by the core principles of social justice and the betterment of society for those individuals that have been historically oppressed, discriminated against, and disenfranchised. His current research focuses on LGBT college students and their experiences being out and staying safe on campus.
